BENSENVILLE,Ill.- The series between the Chicago Cougars Premier squad and the Metro Jets at the Edge Ice Arena was nothing short of intense and captivating. Game 1, played on Thursday, February 15, 2024, turned out to be a nail-biter that extended into overtime, resulting in a heartbreaking 5-4 loss for the Cougars.

by Jake Taylor, but the Cougars responded with Gerdas Paulauskas showcasing his offensive prowess with two goals, giving Chicago a 2-1 lead by the end of the first period. The back-and-forth continued in the second period, with Arthur Pawlik extending the Cougars' lead to 3-1, only to be countered by a power-play goal from Jacques Lavrack for the Metro Jets.


The third period saw both teams exchanging goals, resulting in a 4-4 tie at the end of regulation. In overtime, the Metro Jets capitalized on a power-play opportunity at 2:52, securing a 5-4 victory in a hard-fought contest. Despite the loss, the Cougars showed resilience, with Paulauskas and Pawlik leading the offensive charge, and goaltender Cameron Boville making 37 saves.

As the series continued, the Chicago Cougars looked to bounce back in the next game and even the score against the Metro Jets.


In Game 2, played on February 16, 2024, at the Edge Ice Arena, the Chicago Cougars managed to redeem themselves in a closely contested overtime battle, securing a 5-4 win. The game started with a defensive struggle in the first period, with goaltenders Bennett Pieters and Austin Muirhead showcasing their skills.

The second period saw an explosion of goals, with Kevin Hanly and Alexander Musyakevych scoring for the Cougars, and Jacques Lavrack responding for the Metro Jets. Gerdas Paulauskas netted the game-winning goal just 4 minutes and 10 seconds into overtime, securing a hard-fought victory for the Cougars.
