BENSENVILLE, Ill.- The Chicago Cougars Elite squad faced off against the Fort Wayne Spacemen in a two-game series at The Edge Ice Arena. The atmosphere was charged with excitement as these divisional rivals battled it out, delivering an electrifying display of skill and determination.

Game 1 | February 20th | The Edge Ice Arena in Bensenville, Illinois, witnessed the Chicago Cougars Elite clash with the Fort Wayne Spacemen in the first game of a heated two-game home series. The crowd was hyped with anticipation as both teams, divisional rivals, showcased their skill, determination, and a healthy dose of physicality.

The goaltenders stole the spotlight in the first period, with Brendan Kusbel of Fort Wayne and Jared Ablack of Chicago turning away every scoring attempt. The intensity was palpable as penalties were exchanged, yet neither team could capitalize on the power plays.


The deadlock finally broke in the second period when Stepan Kuznets of the Spacemen netted a goal at 17:11, assisted by Danylo Shpak and Rylan Wempe. Despite the Cougars outshooting their opponents, they couldn't find the net, heading into the final frame trailing 1-0.


The third period erupted with goals, turning the game into a rollercoaster. Lukas Kurowski's power-play goal at 5:02 ignited the Cougars' offense, answered swiftly by Danylo Shpak. Andrew Engstrom tied the game at 2-2, but Shpak secured the 3-2 victory for Fort Wayne with another power-play goal.

Game 2 | February 21 | The Chicago Cougars Elite sought redemption against the Fort Wayne Spacemen in the second game of the series. The Cougars emerged triumphant in a thrilling 3-1 victory, displaying resilience and skill that left the home crowd electrified.

The first period featured a goaltending duel, with Andrew Baumert of Fort Wayne and Kole Wendt of Chicago displaying stellar performances, keeping the scoreboard clean.


The second period unleashed a flurry of action, with Rylan Wempe striking first for Fort Wayne at 3:39. However, the Cougars responded swiftly, with Andrew Engstrom and Mark Shibalov scoring to take a 2-1 lead.


In the tension-filled third period, the Cougars secured the victory with an insurance goal from Joshua Roman. Despite penalties on both sides, the Cougars' defense and Wendt's goaltending held strong, securing the 3-1 win.


Goaltender Kole Wendt's 36 saves on 37 shots earned him a well-deserved victory, solidifying the Cougars' position in the division. The win adds another chapter to the intense rivalry with the Fort Wayne Spacemen, propelling the Cougars with momentum into the latter part of the season.
