Fundraising Frenzy: Cougars Home Weekend Dedicated to Giving Back!

The Chicago Cougars (9-2-1) Junior Hockey team is off to a fast start to their 5th anniversary season remaining atop the standings of the United States Premier Hockey League Midwest East Division after winning the title the past two seasons. This weekend the Cougars return home for games Friday (8:10 PM) and Saturday (7:40 PM) after a 3 week road trip for a pair of games against the Motor City Hockey Club (Detroit, MI) in what will be a classic weekend rivalry that will be used as fundraising for two special causes. Friday, October 18th 8:10 PM vs Motor City Hockey Club Breast Cancer Awareness Night Friday night will be a Breast Cancer awareness game. The Cougars will wear specialty, one of a kind pink jerseys which will be raffled off at the end of the night. There will also be other items for sale including pink the rink t-shirts, wristbands, etc. A local breast cancer survivor will be dropping the ceremonial puck pre-game and proceeds will be donated to research in finding a cure. Saturday, October 19th 7:40 PM vs Motor City Hockey Club Matt Olson Night Saturday the two teams will play a rematch of Friday to celebrate Matt Olson, the Cougars inaugural co-captain who was paralyzed in his last regular season Junior hockey game in 2016. Olson was inducted to the Herb Brooks Youth Hockey Hall of Fame earlier this season and has remained a part of the organization even after his injury. The Cougars retired his #3 jersey during the 2016-17 season. Former Blackhawk Grant Mulvey will be in attendance and signing autographs during the 1st intermission along with other special guests. There will be a silent auction will Hawks tickets, gift bags, Patrick Kane signed jersey, and other novelty items which all proceeds will go directly to Matt Olson to help with his ongoing medical costs.
