BENSENVILLE, Ill. - The Chicago Cougars Premier squad recently faced off against divisional rivals, the Decatur Blaze, in a two-game series that saw the Cougars dominate both home and away games with scores of 5-1 and 6-1, respectively. The Edge Ice Arena in Bensenville, Illinois, and the Decatur Civic Center hosted the intense matchups. Game 1: Chicago Cougars Premier 5 - 1 Decatur Blaze at The Edge Ice Arena

The Edge Ice Arena in Bensenville, Illinois, set the stage for an electrifying clash between the Chicago Cougars Premier and their divisional rivals, the Decatur Blaze, on February 23, 2024. The Cougars showcased their dominance, particularly in a second-period onslaught, securing a convincing 5-1 victory.


The opening frame saw both teams trading blows, with Decatur's Owen Amelkovich drawing first blood. However, the Cougars responded emphatically, with Connor Schuckmann's power-play goal tying the game. The second period belonged entirely to the Cougars, with Cameron Krause, Gerdas Paulauskas, and Connor Schuckmann lighting the lamp, extending their lead to 4-1. Arthur Pawlik sealed the deal in the third period, contributing to the 5-1 final score.

The following night, the Chicago Cougars took their dominance on the road, facing off against the Decatur Blaze at the Decatur Civic Center on February 24, 2024. The Cougars continued their commanding performance, securing a resounding 6-1 victory.


Right from the first puck drop, the Cougars asserted control, bombarding Decatur goaltender Wyatt Gottschall with 16 shots in the opening frame. Arthur Pawlik and Frank Kula found the back of the net, giving Chicago a 2-0 lead at the first intermission. The second period saw Alexander Musyakevych extending the lead, and the Cougars maintained their offensive onslaught, outshooting the Blaze 24-12.


Entering the final frame with a 3-0 lead, the Cougars continued their relentless attack. Gerdas Paulauskas, Nikolay Ouriashev, and Cameron Krause padded the scoreline, sealing a convincing 6-1 victory. Despite Decatur's Camdyn Brosky breaking the shutout, the Cougars' dominance was evident, outshooting their opponents 63-18.
